How My Photography Process Is Different

Photography should capture your most special moments, but should also be affordable and customizable to your needs. Because of this, I like to provide my clients with the maximum number of images and enable them with the flexibility to be able to reproduce their photos as they need to. 

Most photographers take your pictures, then require you to purchase prints from them to get copies of your photos. I shoot your photography session or event in digital format, which enables me to process and edit your photos quicker than standard film format, and gives you a more versatile end product to work with. After I've edited and processed your photos, I will provide high resolution copies to you on a CD or DVD. You can have your photos printed directly off this disc, whenever you need them, and however you want them printed.

In order to afford you this flexibilty, while still protecting my copyrighted work, I do have some guidelines that are included with the information below. Each client must agree to these before the work is done.

1. I will provide you with all photos from your shoot that are fit for reproduction. I will not just give you everything I shoot - everything you get will be representative of my standards and will be high resolution copies fit for photo printing. These copies will all be watermarked in the corner with my name. You must agree to not remove or otherwise hide this watermark, or alter the colors or photo editing the way it was supplied to you. The photos can be used in any personal reproduction except a commercial application, unless I have a different agreement with you. My work is copyrighted under a Creative Commons Attribution - Non Commercial - No Derivative Works 3.0 US License.

2. I've wrestled with how to handle copyright protection several times over the years. I don't want people to have to buy each individual photo from me, just so I can protect my credit. I want to be a photographer, not a photo printer. I've come up with this plan currently. All the photos that you are provided with will have a larger, more obvious watermark that is not obtrusive, yet very visible and not easily removed. If you wish to have copies with a smaller watermark, these can be purchased from me by the print.

3. You will find my rates very reasonable for the quality of work I do. It seems there are many event photographers these days charging an arm and a leg for photography, just because they have a professional grade camera. Expensive equipment does not automatically make for great photography. I require a non-refundable deposit up front to hold your event date, with the balance due upon completion. After payment is received, you will receive your photos. In the event that travel is required, I charge standard mileage rate if driving, airfare and associated costs if flying, as well as lodging accomodations.
